Juf Anastasia

Founder; flute and piano lessons; general music lessons for kids from 4 year old.

Hi! My name is Anastasia. I moved to IJburg with my family in 2020, when I was still studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

I started teaching groups of young children in 2012. I was very young, but I enjoyed it so much! Since then I have almost never stopped teaching children (outside corona time, but that's another story). I teach children to have a good ear, to have good coordination between senses and to have relaxed and controlled body movements. And of course we are discovering an expressive form of art.

I've always wanted my house to be filled with music. When I tried to sign my kid - I have a 6 year old son - to music class, the idea of opening a music studio came naturally to me.

Would you ask me why am I teaching kids? Well, I have a dream - that in 20 years, my 4-5-6 year old kids (ok my students, but they're somehow feeling like my kids), would share their love for music by inviting their dates to a concert :)

There is another side of my job that I especially cherish: teaching adults. I can only encourage people who are starting or continuing with amateur music in adulthood. There is so much work! Sometimes I almost feel like a psychologist. Some people are tense, stressed, constantly rushed... And when I see the same people in the space of a few months, confident, playing pieces from A to Z and enjoying the process - how can I express how proud I am of them ?

You could say that I have been music in the musical world since my very first days - as I come from a family with both parents musicians.

When I was a kid, I could watch my parents teach. Maybe that's why I love teaching and have been doing it for over 10 years. I gave my first lessons when I was 12!

Music gives the opportunity to create something beautiful. Making music also helps to understand, manage and express emotions - at any age. I believe that someone who can play music will have a special inner beauty and special self care. By making music we can also make the world a little better.

In my lessons I combine elements from folklore, early music and classical styles. I also realised that creating a small magical world for the littlest ones is one of my specialties, so here I am.

Liza works on Wednesdays and Thursdays; she speaks English, Latvian, Dutch and Russian.

Hi, I’m Elizabeth! (I am also known by many nicknames: Liz, Lizzie, Eliz - you can choose!)

I come from Singapore, and I study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I started learning piano at the age of 7. Since then, my curiosity for music has never stopped growing!

From my personal experience as a student, I know how much difference a good teacher makes! My priority as a teacher is to nurture the same love I have for music in the student. With children, I love using their imagination as a tool to learn through games and stories. And with adults, it is wonderful to help them experience the fun and fulfilment of learning something new!

I believe music is deep inside every one of us. Shall we discover that together?
